The latter-day inheritor of the long and illustrious tradition of classical Persian painting, Mahmoud Farshchian is a recognized master of every element of this medium, from architecture and figure painting to arabesques, ornamental animals, still life, and cloud-bands. His father, who was a prominent Persian carpet merchant and an art aficionado, instilled the passion into his son and signed him up at the workshops of prominent painting maestros Haji Mirza-Agha Emami and Isa Bahadori at the age of seven, where he learned painting techniques of Timurid — and Safavid — eras.

Farshchian resides in New Jersey. A scholar artist steeped in the classical Persian repertoire, Farshchian first received international recognition with an exhibit at the Art Institute of Istanbul in and, later that same year, through another one-man exhibit at the Golestan Museum in Teheran.
